As promised, here are some exciting pre-season updates!
· While it is strongly encouraged for players to arrive at the arena for practice in full hockey gear (and to depart in this manner), it will NO LONGER BE MANDATORY. The Civic Centre has worked hard to organize designated changing areas for both arenas. Players will still be expected to arrive 10 minutes before their scheduled practice and to depart within 10 minutes following the practice.
· Based on updated guidelines which were just released by Hockey NL, it looks like we will be able to begin 5-on-5 games as early as 4 weeks from the start of the hockey season.
· With these updated guidelines, while there are no guarantees, we are optimistic that the rep season will be able to begin late fall, as usual.
· Based on approvals from both the Civic Centre and Hockey NL, we will now be able to increase the number of players and coaches on the ice at one time from a total of 25 (as outlined in the original guidelines) up to 30.
A big thank-you to the Civic Centre and to Hockey NL for all of your efforts to help us make this a successful, safe, and enjoyable hockey season!
